Cued Speech Association UK

The Cued Speech Association UK is the national Cued Speech charity for the United Kingdom.  Its primary purpose is to provide information about and training in Cued Speech throughout the UK with the aim of improving the communication and literacy skills of deaf and hearing-impaired children and adults by giving full access to spoken language through vision.

History

June Dixon-Millar learned to cue from Dr. Cornett. She was the first teacher to use Cued Speech in England and she went on to start the National Centre for Cued Speech in 1976.

The organization moved from Canterbury to Devon in 1999 with the appointment of Executive Director, Anne Worsfold.

The change of name to the Cued Speech Association UK in 2000 reflected the shift from having an on-site training centre to using a lower cost, UK-wide approach for training.
