conductive hearing loss

conductive hearing loss- A hearing loss resulting from a problem in the outer or middle ear that impedes the conduction of sound to the inner ear.  Common conditions resulting in conductive hearing loss include earwax impaction, otosclorosis, ossicle disarticulation, perforated eardrum, and middle ear fluid. A conductive hearing loss may occur alone or in combination with a sensorineural hearing loss, where it is called a mixed hearing loss.  Conductive hearing loss may be reversible and can often be treated by an otolaryngologist.
