Dr. Walter J. Beaupré (date-June 15, 1988) served as a professor at the University of Rhode Island (URI) in the Speech Department (now the Department of Communicative Disorders) from 1968 to 1995. In 2004, the clinic at URI was re-named to the "Walter J. Beaupré Speech and Hearing Center. He created a test of basic expressive cueing skills called the Basic Cued Speech Proficiency Rating (BCSPR) and authored Gaining Cued Speech Proficiency: A Manual for Parents, Teachers, and Clinicians (©1985).
