Dr. Walter J. Beaupré (date-June 15, 1988) served as a professor at the University of Rhode Island (URI) in the Speech Department (now the Department of Communicative Disorders) from 1968 to 1995. He created a test of basic expressive cueing skills called the Basic Cued Speech Proficiency Rating (BCSPR)  and a test of basic Cued Speech receptive skills called the Cued Speech Reading Test (CSRT). He also authored the instructional book, Gaining Cued Speech Proficiency: A Manual for Parents, Teachers, and Clinicians (©1985).
