onomatopoeia

Onomatopoeia refers to the quality of a word in which its pronunciation mimics the sound it serves to represent (e.g., meow, crash, zoom). Onomatopoeia is one way that transliterators attempt to convey Auditory Environmental Stimuli

The phonemic nature of Cued Speech gives it an advantage over signed languages in its ability to convey onomatopeia.

A great example of a children's story that contains onomatopoeia is Click, Clack, Moo. PBS Kids has several versions of this story, including a cued version, available for download. Access PBS Kids Click, Clack, Moo page.
