Visual Amharic, the latest adaptation of Cued Speech, will be the focus of a presentation at the 2015 Coalition for Global Hearing Health (CGHH) Conference this October. The CCHH advocates for hearing health services around the world to people in areas with limted resources.
Dr. Abera Nega, an Ethiopia-based audiologist will present on the benefits of cueing, the rationale of the cued Amharic adaptation, and a brief timeline of trainings that have taken place at school for the deaf in Addis Ababa.
The conference, which draws otolaryngologists, speech-language pathologists, policy makers, families, advocates, audiologists, deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, will be held at Gallaudet University on October 9-10, 2015.
