For decades, the Syllables Per MInute Assessment served as a subtest of the CLT National Certification Examination (CLTNCE). That test has been retired. The Cued American English Competencey Screening-Fluency (CAECS-F) is a new prerequisite for the CLTNCE – protecting candidates who are not yet sufficiently fluent from registering for certification. The new assessment also adds .5 syllable/second intervals to more precisely estimate a cuer's fluency. The CAECS-F is now available from the TECUnit and open to any cuer who wishes to quatify their expressive fluency.
